Has she settled for real this time? Veena Malik has always seemed to be courted by controversy, but this cross-border starlet seems to have actually tied the knot this time, with a Nikkahnama (signed in courts in Dubai) and an approving father (whose friend’s son she’s married) as proof.

The Silk Sakkath Hot star was previously linked with a hunky Norwegian billionaire (among others) but her Daddy Dearest disapproved of him, so she has decided to settle with a similarly moneyed family friend, Asad Bashir Khan Khattak, which should (in an ideal world) spell the end of her dating disasters and other notorious shenanigans. (Though it would not be entirely imprudent to suspect otherwise…)

The newlyweds smiled aplenty for cameras at their ‘private’ reception at Dubai Creek’s Stake House. While the groom Asad looked quite dapper in a black tuxedo with dark shades, Veena went for an unadorned look with a simple white peshwas with red and gold accents. Due to her mother’s poor health, Veena’s nikkah was rushed, but she has been promised a white wedding in the States by her new husband, plus a few wedding functions will also be held in Pakistan – all private events for near and dear ones, though a rumour is about that Salman Khan is among those to expect an invite.

"I am very happy with the marriage. I told her that if she wanted my blessings, then Asad was the right man for her. She must have felt that I was right; that's why she gave her consent," said Veena's father, Malik Muhammad Aslam, who also told her that he did not "object to her working in showbiz", but he wanted her to get married first. "It was the right time. We are a traditional family and want our daughters to live a settled life," he added.

As is the absurd norm these days, the happy couple took to Twitter to express their happiness about their newfound love: Asad, inarticulate as he may be, seemed sincere in professing his love to her: “veni whatever the world think abt u.bt as I knw u personally by heart u r so kind n sweet.ur precious 2 me." Veena, in turn, gushed enthusiastically: “I have found my Soul mate.... my Friend...my Partner!!!”
