The JUI-F rejected the results of by-elections in NA-25 Dera Ismail Khan-cum-Tank on Thursday saying that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Government in KPK highly influenced the polls and used official resources to get the results in their favour.

On Wednesday’s by-polls PTI’s Dawar Khan Kundi defeated JUI-F’s Maulana Asad Mehmood, son of Maulana Fazlur Rehman. Kundi bagged 73,755 votes defeating his main rival Asad Mehmood who got 66,063 votes.

The JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s spokesman Jan Achakzai said that the JUI-F posses video evidences regarding the polls rigging in NA-25.

He alleged that the KPK Government intervened in the polls process and influenced the results. He further said that the Provincial Finance Minister was directly monitoring the polls process from a polling station and was also providing the transport facility to the people, which is a violation of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) code of conduct.

The JUI-F spokesman further alleged that the KPK Chief Minister, Chief Secretary and other party leaders during their five-day stay in Dera Ismail Khan promised uplift schemes to get the support of the tribal families.

One the other hand, Faisal Karim Kundi, former deputy speaker of the National Assembly and a cousin of Dawar Khan Kundi, said Maulana Fazlur Rehman is blaming the ‘agencies’ and the KPK Government for his failure, but he should face the reality.

He said that the defeat of the JUI-F candidate is the result of his performance of the last 15 years and “deceiving the people in the name of Islam.”

He said that he has some ideological differences with the PTI, but sided with its candidate because it was serious to contest against the Maulana.

“We have ousted the Maulana from the local politics,” he said. Kundi said even the allies of the Maulana did not support him, then what to talk of other people.
